About Us

The Academicians’ Gallery is the year-round exhibition space of the Royal Scottish Academy. All artworks on view in the gallery are by Royal Scottish Academicians and are available to purchase. Founded in 1826, the Royal Scottish Academy is an independent body of artists and architects. Royal Scottish Academicians are eminent artists and architects, elected by their peers, and Scottish by birth or domicile. As an independently funded charity, the Royal Scottish Academy relies on artwork sales as a source of income to fund its year-round programme of exhibitions, events and artist opportunities. In purchasing an artwork from the gallery, you are supporting the work the RSA carries out throughout Scotland to assist artists at all stages of their careers.

Working directly with the most respected artists in Scotland, the Academicians' Gallery is uniquely able to offer clients the opportunity to commission the creation of artworks of a subject and specification of their choosing. If you are interested in commissioning an artwork, we can enable a dialogue with the artist, manage the process and ensure the finished work surpasses your expectations.
