Born in Edinburgh in 1942, Leon Morrocco RSA is the first son of the Scottish-Italian artist Alberto Morrocco RSA OBE. In 1968, after studying art in Dundee, London and Edinburgh, he was awarded a scholarship to study at the Accademia di Brera in Milan, Italy. His time spent in Italy and his further travels in France, Spain, Malta and South America greatly inspired his painting style and subject matter. Morrocco's strong affinity with his Italian background and passion for travel can be seen in his work.
He has worked as a lecturer at Edinburgh College and Glasgow School of Art and has also taught in Australia (1969 – 1984) before moving to London in 1992. His work can be found in many notable public and private collections, including the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, H.R.H Princess Margaret, the Scottish Arts Council, Leeds Art Gallery and Queensland Art Gallery.
