'Collage is the twentieth century's greatest innovation.'
Robert Motherwell
An exhibition of collages by Royal Scottish Academicians will be on view in the Academicians' Gallery.
Whilst the pandemic has kept painters from their studios, printmakers from workshops and sculptors from foundries, one medium which has seen revitalised interest is collage. With the most rudimentary of materials, perhaps just well-thumbed newspapers and magazines, the playful, chaotic contrasts of collage can come to life. This exhibition explores the enduring appeal of collage and its significance within the practices of Royal Scottish Academicians.
